2 The Reporter — Issue #1, 2017 Message from the International Justice With a semester full of P.A.D. pride coming to a close, the song "Be true to your School" by the Beach Boys comes to mind. Why? Well besides my California roots showing, the point of the song is about showing pride in something you are associated with; in the song's case it was a school, but it could easily be an organization or an employer. But why is organizational pride a good thing? Jessica Pryce-Jones, the author of "Happiness at Work," states that "organizational pride is a win-win for everyone." She points out that "pride is a catalyst for focusing on task, effort, and persistence. And it spurs us on to help others, creating powerful and uplifting feelings of connectedness and belonging." If we take Ms. Pryce-Jones's last point and look at what our members and chapters are doing in the name of P.A.D., there is certainly a lot of P.A.D. pride being shown. Weekly, I take in all the social media posts about events, accomplishments, successes, and people needing an encouraging word. The response to these posts is an outpouring of tremendous fraternal spirit. I invite you to look around at the activities of our chapters. What does one see? P.A.D. pride on display each and every day. It is the Knoxville Alumni Chapter members headed to a day at the Race Track or New Jersey Statewide Alumni Day at the Ball Park. It is the chartering of a brand new P.A.D. Law School Chapter, the Janet Reno Chapter at Cooley School of Law in Tampa. It is the communal celebrating of our 3L members and pre-law seniors as they graduate. It is the tireless efforts of our "Take The Pledge" committee, led by Brother John Weitkamp, that keeps the excitement of Convention going throughout the biennium. It is the out pouring of supportive messages when a member is in despair. P.A.D. pride is all of these things and so many more, too many to capture in this note from the IJ. So now I ask you, what does P.A.D. pride mean to you? Post your answer to your favorite social medial platform and use #PADPRIDE. I am looking forward to reading your answers. Fraternally, Kitty Your Generosity to The P.A.D.
