Grace Magazine | Fall 2017 12 First Lady Trina Jenkins once said that we are too busy, so much so that we are distracted from spending time with God every day. She exhorted us to S-L-O-W down and wait in His presence. So, here is what I learned from this powerful morning session: The enemy of our soul (Satan) wants to distract or prevent us from meeting with God. He will put lots of things on our minds, people in our way, afflictions, temptations, name your distrac- tion here. That's right, a distraction is meant to separate us from God and the truth found in His Word. There are many reasons why we need to spend time with Him daily. The most important reason of all is because HE LOVES US. Don't you want to hang out with people you love that make you feel good? Well, our heavenly Father is the same way. We please Him when we seek Him and put Him first every day. God knows what we need even before we ask Him. However, He is gentle and He will not force His way or His will on us in any way. I must confess that I am a worshiper and I love to pray, but, there was a different expression of God at this morning meet- ing. I could sense that God wanted to take us to a new level of our relationships with Him in the secret place. REFLECTIONS: Focus on God. Do you want to get God's attention? Begin your time thanking and praising Him for all He has done for you. "Enter into His gates with thanksgiving And into His courts with praise …" (Psalm 100:4). Get quiet so you can re- ceive direction from Him. Wait in His presence and bask in His love. For example, He might give you a Scripture or surround you with His peace. He is the Prince of Peace and a Mighty God! The Secret Place "He who dwells in the secret place of the Most High shall abide under the shadow of the Almighty." Reflections from the "I will say of the Lord, He is my refuge and my fortress; my god, in Him i wiLL trust." (Psalm 91:1-2).
